He started to smile again a little as she smiled. Maybe, just maybe, things would be all right after all.

"You're so light to carry."

He swept her up in his arms and deposited them both on the sofa, with her sitting on his lap. This behavior was not like him at all and he knew it, but the relief after worry was making him giddy.

"And you're beautiful, and you're smart, and you're strong, and you're amazing." He punctuated each statement with a kiss.
