These memories of rain have been bothering me since a few nights ago.

I have not been able to sleep since, not because I am afraid, but because I wish I know why. When I was a child, I thought all children were afraid of thunderstorms and rain, and when I grew older I blamed the dislike of rain towards the fact that if it went into the night, Azelma and I would have to sleep in it. But now...I cannot see why I dislike it so, or why my mentioning it upset Marius so very much.

These memories are the haziest I've had so far, but what I can recollect is not good. Just a loud bang coming from in front of me, and an ache in my hand and my shoulder. It is very strange, and not the sort of strange that one likes.

Perhaps a bit of reading will provide some answers...

I can't empathize on the rain, but I can certainly sympathize with your plight. I remember that it rained a bit on the barricade on Tuesday night.

I've always disliked Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Marius was with us on the barricades during that point. Perhaps that brought back some of his memories? I don't recall just what he was doing at that point, I'm sorry to say.

Perhaps we all have our aversions from the past.

Hm...that could be. I remember he said he did not want me going out in the rain. He was very adamant about that.

That is strange. When the barricade fell, it wasn't raining. Have you asked him directly?

No, I fear that I may upset him more.

Azelma bought home a copy of Les Miserables from the library yesterday. It's not bought forth any answers just yet, but I am still looking.

I'm so sorry you've had trouble sleeping! I wish I'd known, I'd have offered to - I don't know - distract you or keep you company for awhile.

Do you think there are some things we are better off not remembering?

I suppose that's a foolish question. We all know how strong the need to find out is.

It is not your fault, Marius. But, I certainly wouldn't say no to a distraction.

Well...perhaps it is better to remember than to always be wondering what it is we can't. I would rather not be curious for the rest of my life. If there is something bad that I need to remember, then I would like to know and maybe make my peace with it.

Unfortunately, I did not find anything in the book last night. It is very hard to find things, because it is so big. (She doesn't want to confess that some of the words are hard for her to understand.)
